Vision
Learning, Living and Leading through Islam
Mission
To produce generations of well-adjusted Muslims, able to face with pride, dignity and confidence, the challenges of modern life whilst preserving their Islamic identity
Philosophy
Edmonton Islamic Academy (EIA) derives its message from the faith in the necessity of raising a generation that believes in its creator, Almighty Allah (God). We believe that this message is achieved through academic excellence, proactive community involvement and upstanding citizenship that is an integral part of our Canadian mosaic.
A generation that prides itself in its Islamic heritage and religious teachings and holds firmly to the message of Islam, whose tenets are based on the Qur'an – the Holy book of Muslims – as well as the Sunnah (Teaching) of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
A generation that enjoys the independence of opinion and freedom of speech, keeping pace with the developments and changes of the period; and that excels in solving problems and be capable of exercising objective thinking in making decisions.
EIA performs its functions through educating its students in the Islamic culture and thus prepares them to be effective members in their society. Further, EIA maintains the highest academic standards, creating leaders in the greater community. These teachings call for noble conduct, cooperation, fraternity and actual contribution to serving and developing the best possible society.
The environment where the interaction between the teacher and the student takes place considerably affects the activity of learning. Therefore, EIA has taken great care to enhance such interaction in an Islamic atmosphere of democracy. There, students will become responsive to the teacher and their interaction is greater, thus making the learning process easier. For the purpose of ensuring that an Islamic atmosphere, and high academics are there for our students, EIA has taken great care to complement the Islamic environment by having a teaching staff, who respect and adhere to the Islamic message of education.
Along with being enthusiastic to achieve its Islamic message, EIA is determined to excel in achieving the outcomes prescribed by Alberta Learning. EIA also aspires to enrich the curriculum through the following:
One of EIA's most important priorities is to develop the individual’s learning and intellectual skills through generating integration between the Islamic curriculum and the program of studies prescribed by Alberta Learning.
Given the fact that EIA teaches the students the Islamic culture and provides them with an Islamic religious education based on the Holy Qu'ran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). EIA must teach them the Arabic oral and written language, which is the language of the Holy Qu'ran. This knowledge enables the students to actually understand the verses of the Holy Qu'ran and to deeply and completely understand their meanings and noble teachings, which Islam has legislated as a mode of living, working and dealing with others.
Our Islamic education provides informed comprehension to the students with the Islamic values and inspiring principles, together with a comprehensive vision of the environment around them, as well as of the world beyond the limits of the EIA. This combined with Alberta Learning's leadership and work with partners will optimize our student's potential in building a globally recognized lifelong learning community that enables Muslim Canadians to be responsive, caring, creative, self-reliant and contributing members of a knowledge based and prosperous society.
