Academy News & Events

Welcome to the Academy, welcome to learning. Edmonton Islamic Academy students learn, achieve, and grow in an environment that promotes Islamic character as modeled by Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) and his companions. The Academy offers a rich learning experience fully compliant with the Alberta curriculum. In addition, our students are taught to be engaged and responsible Canadian citizens. Our goal is to provide the environment and the tools necessary to fulfill this mission.

KG: Yoga for Kids
Friday, May 25 - 3 Hour Session

The Edmonton Islamic Academy Early Childhood Program/PUF is happy to offer another learning session for you and your child.

Creative Movement
Kinesiologist & Yoga Teacher: Jayleen Renneberg

OBJECTIVE: Learn how to use yoga to increase attention, improve behaviour and increase children’s awareness of their mind and body.

What Will We Be Doing?
This Creative Movement class is all about moving and exploring different shapes, postures and more with our bodies. Classes for this age group are usually themed, which allows the kids to follow along with a story. We will be “traveling to a farm” and exploring the different shapes and noises that animals make. From singing “E-I-E-I-O” to riding pretend cars, laying eggs like chickens, mooing like cows, and jumping like donkeys, your kids will be able to funnel their energy into movement. By the end of class they will be more than happy to rest and this feeling of calmness and focus will likely stick with them for at least a few hours. The more often kids move and breathe through any form of exercise, the longer these feelings of calmness and focus will last.

This is a regular school day for your child. Plan to attend when Jayleen will be in your child’s class…
