Admissions

Thank you for your interest in Edmonton Islamic Academy. The following is provided to guide you through our admissions process.

Kindly be informed that Edmonton Islamic Academy is boasting the highest enrollment in our history. Due to the maximum enrollment, all new registrations made at this time for Preschool to Grade 12 are being placed on a waiting list. Openings in these grades are limited and are dependent upon the re-enrollment of our current students.

Admission Process

  1. Apply: Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis using our online system.

Please note that an application will not be considered complete or date stamped until the application fee of $100 is received. The application fee may be paid by cash, cheque, credit card, or direct payment at our front office or over the phone.

  2. Student Assessment: Individual academic and readiness assessments are conducted with all students entering Kindergarten through Grade 12. Upon receipt of your child's application, we will contact you to schedule the assessment. Students should plan to spend between 1 and 3 hours with us.

Kindly note that we will only contact students to sit our entrance exam if there are vacancies in the grade level they are applying to.

  3. Student Assessment: Parents will be notified by phone or email about their child’s exam results and acceptance status approximately 2 weeks from the date the test was written.

  4. Acceptance: Students who meet all of our EIA acceptance criteria will be offered a place with our Academy. However, the acceptance will only be secured once the Capital Project Fee is paid in full.

Home Education Plan Form

Tips for completing the Notification of Intent to Homeschool form

  • This form is for parent-directed home educators only.
  • You do not have to know the Alberta Student number of your child. We will look that up for you.
  • Question #8 is only if you are dropping your child off at another location other than your home for most of their home education program.
  • Question #11 The name of the resident school board is the public school division that is located where you live (for example: if you live in Edmonton you may put Edmonton Public Schools though that’s not where you are registering).
  • Question #12 is where you registered last year.
  • Question #13 The question regarding assistance in setting up the program: if you check yes you are NOT giving up any responsibility or control over your child’s education. This is just an administrative question that lets us know how much time to book for your first home visit.
  • Question #14 The question about who is going to be administering the program is only for people who are using another family’s homeschool or an outside teacher to provide programming. It is not Bloom (most people leave this blank).
  • The French language question is completely up to you. You can check either box. Our home education program does not have a lot of access to French programming and you would have to find it yourself if you are a parent-directed home educator.
  • In Part B you are asked which program you choose. If you choose the first one, you are required to teach ALL the outcomes in the Alberta program of studies for the courses you chose to use the Alberta program. If you check the second box, you are required to teach from the home education regulations. The second option is more flexible.

Returning Students | Re-Enrollment

Due to the limited number of seats available and the desire of many families wanting to join Edmonton Islamic Academy, parents of returning students must complete and sign the re-enrollment form by the deadline provided by admissions during each academic year. Failure to do so may result in the loss of enrollment privileges for the family for the following school year. The signing of the re-enrollment form does not constitute full registration. Parents must fully register a returning student by the deadline set by the school.

For a returning student to be fully registered, the following must be completed:

  • Complete, sign, and return the Re-enrollment Form 2024-2025
  • Pay registration fees to the office
  • EIA has the right to deny re-enrollment to any student due to poor behavioral performance.

A family who wishes to continue his/her education at EIA for 2024-2025 must pay the re-enrollment deposit.  Families with one child, pay $250.00. Families with more than one child pay a maximum of $500.00 per family. Re-enrollment deposits will go towards the family’s tuition fees for the next academic year and are non-refundable.

You can make your payment by providing your credit card details in the section provided. However, if you choose not to provide your credit card details on the form you are welcome to call our office at (780)-454-4573, Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and you can provide them with the details over the phone.

Please email your completed form to admissions@islamicacademy.ca and include the Re-Enrollment Form as your subject.
